About the Author

Lanford Wilson was born in Lebanon, Missouri, in 1938 and attended the University of Chicago. A founding member of the Circle Repertory Company in New York, he has seen many of his plays produced in theaters all over the United States and abroad. He is the recipient of many awards, including a Drama Desk Vernon Rice Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and two Obies.

I bought this for my grandson who is in University...He is studying Film and this book was part of his year end project....He got an A onpresentation so I guess the book was all that it should have been....

I loved this play in college. Amazing how tastes change though. I didn't really remember all the foul language. Still, an excellent play, just not for use in my classroom as a high school teacher.

One of the best male roles around. However, I'm a female, and it wasn't quite as standout for me. A true acting student standard and beautifully raw.

A play about people living in New York City in the 1980s below Soho in a loft, but it could be Brooklyn in the 2000s too or anywhere an earthy dancer, ego-filled screenwriter and wise-cracking advertising man and pure id of a restaurant managing guy tangle up their hurts and visions. And where I thought John Malcovich as wild real Pale blew the audience away in 80s NYC, in the version I just saw in 2011 LA, the female among these smart talkers stood strong center of the cyclone of her life and blewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww baby blewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I think this play is timeless. The passion and humor is riveting and role of Pale is a dream role for any daring actor.

Langford Wilson's drama, "Burn This," is set in New York City in the eighties. The play was performed with Steppenwolf actors John Malkovich and Joan Allen as Jimmy Pale and Anna. The play debuted at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California en route to Broadway in New York City.This drama is two acts with four characters including a female and three males. Burton and Larry are two gay men and as Anna's roommates.the drama unfolds after the tragic deaths of Robbie and Dominic, a gay couple.Anna recalls how Robbie's family were clueless about his life as a dancer and choreographer in New York City's dance community. Anna was his friend and roommate only. Pale is Robbie's older brother.Anna and Pale have a beautiful love story underneath the tragedy and loss. This drama is about homosexuality and families in dealing with death back in the eighties.
