What an enjoyable story of the relationship between Lord Iain de Morayand Lady Margaret Baillie.They both appeared in the first book featuringIain' brother and his wife,Ailis.It was a endearing and accurate periodpiece that flowed smoothly and at a steady pace allowing the readers toget to know the characters.Lady Margaret's life was filled with rage and grief.Uncertainty as to the whereabouts of a loved one consumed her to sucha degree that she was willing to kill to find out the information she sodesperately needed.Unfortunately her plan is foiled and she comes tothe attention of Lord Iain once again.This was not their first meeting andMargaret still desired Iain.To save her from a life of solitude,Iain wedsMargaret but it's not a happy union.Iain is a gruff and stern man despitehis growing feelings for Margaret.He burns for her but his life was changedin the blink of a eye.I admired Margaret for her strength,her life had beenone of uncertainty and cruelty.Iain may be distant but the only pain hecaused her was over his knees.With time and patience,Iain finally startedto thaw out and appreciate his good fortune at having a wife to not onlylove but keep him on his toes.The inclusion of Alexander and Ailis roundedoff the story nicely.I liked how the author kept it simple and realistic to theera making it such a easy book to read.
This was an enjoyable book to read. The author did a really good job of slowly revealing her characters. This was especially true with the gruff Iain. I loved the way the fearless knight slowly became so much more as he grew closer to Margaret. Margaret had her own transition from a woman that was somewhat tread upon to a woman willing to face off with her gruff knight.This is the first book I have read in the series, and it quickly made me regret not reading the first book. One because it was so enjoyable to read, and also because a few teasing moments with Ailis made me feel like I was missing out on some of Iain and Margaret's past. I'll definitely go back and pick up the first book, and also look forward to any future books in the series.I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Having read His Conquered Bride, I wanted to know more about Iain de Moray so was glad to see that this book is all about him and Lady Margaret who also featured in the other book. Although it's related to His Conquered Bride, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I like that Iain is a strong character but has a softer side that he chooses not to show and that Margaret is feisty and willing to stand up to him. There are some steamy scenes between the couple, even though things don't get off to a great start.
This is a great entertaining book with strong lovable characters, Iain and Margaret and they have great chemistry. This couple has marriage forced upon them by the king and this results in a sexy power struggle. Great historical domestic disciple romance.I received this book from Stormy Nights Publication as it advanced readers copy.
This mighty warrior didn't know how to love a family.He did k is how to protect them. I love how the story developed. The story line runs smoothly between the hard warrior and learning how to love. The story has living discipline and woman who learned to stand up for herself. Very nice read

This is an entertaining read with strong, loveable characters. Iain and Margaret had great chemistry. Theirs is a steamy tale that ends with a Hea.I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advanced reader copy.
This was a good read. I really enjoyed it. Love that it's set so early.
