This is a perfect title for this love story. I was deeply moved by their vulnerability and honored to have the opportunity to see into the hearts and lives of Sandy and Chris. Their story shows how regular, typical friends, neighbors, and colleagues can have a role in changing history. They didn't set out the change the world. They simply asked to be a full part of the world and society to which both of them had given legions of service. I found myself crying even though I knew there was a happy ending. I came away with a new understanding of what it must have been like to be excluded and shut out for nothing more than deeply and truly loving another person. I celebrate their committed love, their courage, and triumph. Margaret Meade had it right, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Meet Sandy, Chris and a cast of amazing attorneys and advocates. Well done, fellow citizens. Well done.

The authors could be anyone you know--neighbors, coworkers, friends. Their story starts with their backgrounds which are so very familiar to anyone who grew up around the same time here in the US, and this is part of what makes their journey so remarkable. The conversational style tells a story that is deeply personal and so universal at the same time. An important part of history, modestly shared by people who were in the center of the storm.
