I have just received the book and after skimming have noticed that many of the questions seem to be "right there" questions. This means that the reader is not pressed to draw conclusions or infer information. many of these passages would be appropriate as morning work or "Do Nows" but would not offer enough beefy practice to be deemed beneficial in regard to prepping students for the NYS ELA exam. The book does have its merits, but as far as offering a real challenge, no way.

I use this book for reading remediation in special education. It gives the students plenty to practice. I use the longer texts at the end of the week for fluency practice. I have seen massive growth in my students since using this book and the ones for lower levels. This, added to phonics lessons, provides for excellent lessons in remediation.

I currently use this to tutor my 5th grade student in Reading skills, and am impressed by the arrangement and ease of lessons. I like the rotation of nonfiction and fiction lessons, the repetition of words, and the questions about all the major reading skills like cause and effect and monitoring. There's also a good selection of vocab and grammar skills. It's great to use as a fluency exercise, and there are charts to monitor growth and skill strengths and challenges.

Found a grammatical error, unacceptable.

I purchased this book for my reading intervention groups. My lowest readers are able to read and answer majority of the questions correctly without any problems. The questions in the book are not rigorous enough for what we are teaching in the classroom. When I did use it, I enjoyed the 5 day format that it used.

It helps my little brother a lot with compression skills!

I love the resource. It would be better if the disc had editable eat share documents. It would make it so worth it in Google classroom.
