The youngest woman ever elected to the Arizona State Senate, Giffords served in the Arizona Legislature from 2000-2005 and in Congress from 2006-2012.Mark Kelly is a retired astronaut and US Navy Captain. His picture book Mousetronaut, illustrated by C.F. Payne was a #1 New York Times bestseller. He flew his first of four missions in 2001 aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour, the same space shuttle that he commanded on its final flight in May 2011. In 2020 he will be running to represent Arizona in the United States Senate.Jeffrey Zaslow (1958-2012) was most recently the author of The Magic Room. His other books include The Girl from Ames and, as coauthor, The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.

It isn't easy to review this type of book. It isn't written by a professional writer, but straight up literary merit isn't the point of this book. The writing can be simplistic and stilted in places, but that only makes it feel more like what it is, a real story, told by real people, about their lives.Gabby was a member of my community (Tucson) and her near assassination and the death of so many people touched us all deeply. This book was both inspiration and healing in its honesty and lack of self-pity. The story of this couple's struggle and their desire to bring something positive from devastating tragedy is inspiring, just inspiring.

From beginning to end "Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope" is truly inspirational. I watched the news on and after January 8th and I felt only a small portion of the agony that the entire family must have gone through. Not knowing if Gabby was going to pull through this horrendous, unspeakable ordeal. Both the Kelly's and Gifford families persevere through tremendous F-A-I-T-H, love, and devotion. I think Mark Kelly and the Gifford family show just how much devotion and faith they really have for Gabby and each other and still today they continue to support each other. Even through the roughest of times they ALL managed to continue and push forward. I cherished Gabby's words when she stated, "risk is often a necessary component of vision". Gabby encourages her collegues to be "bold, take risks, & to think big". I also loved the video of U2 360, when Mark Kelly appears in the U2 video while Bono sings "Beautiful Day" which is available on youtube.com. I thought that was heartfelt, and oh so romantic. My deepest prayers go to family and may Gabby continue to gain strength, love, and complete devotion from her husband and family. The book was a wonderful read and truly inspirational. It is a book that everyone should read.

Good, inspirational story. Unlike some other reviewers, I did not think her husband stole the limelight. My take on it is that he is left in the role of being the primary spokesperson, and, given Gabby's circumstances, the story is often told from his point of view.

Is of special interest to anyone who knows a person with a head injury (that includes stroke).I learned a lot about what astronauts do, Politics and Gabby before.Thankfully the shooter is dismissed in one sentence: "This has been extensively covered elsewhere."Thanks to help from Jeffrey Zaslow (NYTimes writer, novelist), the book reads well.The book is mostly in the "voice" of Mark Kelly.Get it, give it, you will love it too. Very Upbeat!

I deeply enjoyed this heartfelt account of the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords and her triumphant courage, strength and determination to never give up in her journey to recovery. Her beloved husband, Mark was a definite determinate factor. Their bond of love and devotion was truly a testimony to us all. Mark's dedication to the space program was also deeply enlightening. I highly recommend this moving account of crisis to triumph to both men and women alike!

This book is about is about Gabrielle Giffords, a couragous and fastinating women who fought back against the odds from a gun shot wound to the head. And fight back she did and is still fighting today! This book was an easy read about Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly. It takes them from growing up, getting married, the shotting and afterwards. I really enjoyed reading it and would highly recommend it.To Gabby and Mark: I hope your lives are going well! Wish I could meet such an extraordinary couple!

I love this couple. Gabby is a fighter. She truly is amazing. The book is interesting, sad, romantic, funny, exciting, and motivating. I am so moved by their message of hope.

I live in Phoenix Arizona so naturally I am very interested in Gabby. The book was written by her husband who is a very good writer. Mostly, it's about their relationship; how they met and got married and about how all that has changed. If you're as interested in Gabby as I am, it's a must read.
