For him it is, he is a hybrid [his terminology] of mixed stock, he wishes to share all he has found and the inferences drawn from it. The work opens with definitions of various possibilities of human ordering and how they differ. If you can follow and remember his categories they will reappear in all the settings he has discovered; this reviewer was unable to accomplish that feat not for want of trying but rather for want of finding them interesting but that is for style as well as content.We parted company early on when Kaufman argued that the rise of Populism and the twist it has created in established political systems sprang from issues of race and immigration rather than economic hardship in this age of raging inequality and the disappearance of the Middle Class as it was known; all topics that make matters such as ‘migration’ relevant. He rejected all the effects of globalization on the labor market as a factor in the rise of Trump’s election seeing it in the now favorite split between town and rural lifestyles. This books uses mainstream media misinformation to make key points. I'm only 23 pages in, on the hardcover, and its become apparent that the author is an anti-Trumper. It's a much larger book, at 540 pages + than I expected as I had not checked the number of pages in the book prior to purchasing it. The author is from the UK.
Kaufmann does a fine job of offering a historical examination and prognosis of an entire race of people from the disinterested lense of someone that is not a member of the group being examined (Kaufman is Chinese, “latino,†and Jewish).
Provocative title, but I am reviewing this page. There is absolutely no description of the content of the book and one anonymous review. If this is any indication this book is empty.
Excellent read on a complex topic. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
